Sometimes there’s that one person in the family that is really great at giving massages and always that one person who is constantly asking you to rub their sore neck or back. To all of those who are designated back massager of the household, this blog post goes out to you.
I sympathize with you, I really do. Because I am that person who rubs everyone’s sore neck or back in my household. Ever since I started working at a wellness shop I really began to educate myself of the different forms of massage and creams and oils that were best to use. I’ve also become accustomed to using other techniques like cupping and gua sha massage. It’s way easier for me because my hands and arms are not sore at the end of the massage and everyone is still very happy with the results of their massage.
I really love this tool. You don’t have to be super intense on the pressure when using the tool. If you’re using it on the face, be gentle. If you know the proper technique and have been trained or are certified, you can definitely apply the amount of pressure a professional does. Just be aware that this might not be a relaxing massage but more or less a quick way to get rid of intense pain (Also beware of bruising that can last up to a week after the gua sha massage).
This one is a personal favorite. There are three different ways that you can go about silicone cupping therapy but like the gua sha, assure that you know what you are doing before performing this technique on yourself or others. The cupping may also lead to bruising if the suction on the skin is strong. Though cupping therapy is much more relaxing and is an enjoyable experience as it really brings all of the toxins in your body to the surface of your skin. Through this, the toxins are expelled from the body and muscle aches and tensions are gone. You can use the following techniques: Flash cupping, stagnant cupping and massage cupping. All three are great and are best suited for different types of pain.
Massage Oils and Creams
This is probably one of the most exciting parts for me. My favorite creams that I use at home on myself and everyone else is from the brand Massoleum. It is seriously amazing. I use a hybrid of a gel based cream and an oil. The consistency and texture is amazing. The oil / cream does not stain sheets or clothing which makes everyone’s life easier. The brand also has products that are just oils and that are just creams. All the products are made in Quebec and it is all plant based. It makes me feel better knowing that what I’m putting on my skin or other people’s skin is not toxic and something that they enjoy the texture of.
